In our piano lessons, the instructor will guide the student to learn the ABRSM grade repertoire that best fits their musical level and personality. After this, our instructor will assist the student technically and artistically in order to achieve the highest possible marks in the exam. All of our instructors know the ABRSM grading sheet well, and will be able to inform the student where they need to focus their practice each week in order to be fully prepared by the examination date.

Our instructors will prepare the student with mock examinations in each category found in the exam including theory, aural skills, scales/arpeggios, and sight-reading. While we teach all of these categories within the regular lessons, the time is often spent working on the repertoire (the performance being the most important aspect of the ABRSM). Because of this limited time, we recommend additional lessons solely devoted to theory and aural skills. We have had great success with our students who have taken the exam (all have passed, with majoritively distinction or merit), and guarantee that if you study for the ABRSM Performance or Practical Exams with us, you will get at least a passing grade!

The first course is for beginner theory and is designed for students with little working knowledge of key signatures, intervals, musical terminology, rhythms, basic harmony, etc..

The second course is a detailed advanced preparation for the Grade 5 theory exam using ABRSM textbooks of all the necessary theoretical concepts for the exam, as well as many practice tests and worksheets to ensure full comprehension and practice on all the relevant topics. The final weeks of the course are specifically devoted to practicing on real past ABRSM graded examinations before the actual graded test.
