Private Lessons
Each of our instructors have had years of hands-on experience building their students’ pianistic technique from playing at an introductory level to performing highly complex classical repertoire. We prepare our students to succeed in college music auditions, ABRSM/NYSSMA examinations, and competitions. We also provide performance opportunities for students in public recitals, local competitions, and masterclasses. Our instructors are active members of the Steinway STEP program, Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), and Piano Teachers Congress of NY.

In-School
Lessons at Lumina happen on freshly tuned and regulated acoustic pianos: while there is no designated parking for the school, street parking along Avenue U is relatively convenient.
Online
Online lessons are conducted through Zoom, Skype, or Facetime. Use of either an iPhone or other smartphone/tablet works best, or a computer with an external microphone and decent camera (most internal computer microphones are too cheap to convey adequate sound quality).
In-Home
Lessons offered at a student’s home provide the convenience of no travel time as well as personalized instruction on the student’s own instrument (whether acoustic or weighted digital). Commute from the school is limited to most of Brooklyn and Manhattan (with exceptions based on ease of subway/bus/parking: please reach out to us if you are interested but uncertain).
Rate increase is dependent on estimated time of commute to and from the school location. Contact us for a free quote!
