Full Biography.

Born in Toronto, Ontario, pianist Roseanne Yu has made a triangular path across North America. Raised in Irvine, California, Roseanne started playing piano at the age of 8. At the age of 13, she began studying with Pamela Worcester, a graduate of Manhattan School of Music and teacher at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, and made the definitive decision to study classical piano performance at the age of 15. During her time with Pamela Worcester, Roseanne became a multiple time semi-finalist and finalist in the Southern California Junior Bach Festival, as well as winning a small handful of other local competitions.

During her time as an undergraduate at Carnegie Mellon University, her interest in baroque music intensified while studying with Sergey Schepkin, a formidable interpreter of J. S. Bach and a professor at both CMU and the New England Conservatory. While at CMU, Roseanne also performed with the Carnegie Mellon Baroque Ensemble, Carnegie Mellon Wind Ensemble, and conducted the Carnegie Mellon Repertoire Orchestra.

Now pursuing a master's degree at Mannes School of Music in Piano Performance, Roseanne has taken lessons with Ann Schein, and is currently studying with Vladimir Valjarevic, a brilliant musician and instructor. Roseanne Yu is a pianist with a strong focus on music theory and technique, distilling what she has gained from such valuable teachers and experiences to create and guide her teaching philosophy.
