The Spotlight Series is a piano recital series designed to highlight masterpieces of the Western Classical Tradition of keyboard music in intimate candlelit concerts. Though this classical tradition is frequently ignored in schools and forgotten in daily life, Lumina seeks to rekindle the love of keyboard music, which had captured the imaginations of the greatest minds from the 1600s on.
Open seating typically starts from 7:00 PM with the performance beginning at 7:30 PM. All concerts are held at Lumina Piano School with free admission.
Short reception to follow.
RSVPs are always required due to the limited seating: there are 30 seats available for each event in this series.

Fall 2026 Lumina Honors Recital
Saturday November 21st, 2026
@ 1:45pm - 3:15pm
Please communicate with your private instructor regarding preparing repertoire for the Honors Audition: our general suggestions would be between 1-3 pieces/movements aiming for a total of 4-10min performance time. However, these are not hard rules, and your private teacher can adjust as necessary to construct an appropriate program.
There are no limitations on who can audition (amongst enrolled Lumina students), or what you should perform. Selection is adjudicated based on length of piano study, current age, technical / musical considerations (piece difficulty, attention to musical nuance, etc.), and stage presence.
Auditions will be held on Veterans Day, Wednesday November 11th at Lumina Piano School’s Classroom A between 9am-12pm. Video submissions are allowed but not preferred: the deadline to submit is 12pm on Nov. 11th. Please contact us in advance if you need to submit a recorded video.
Performance will be held in the Mary Flagler Cary Hall at The Dimenna Center for the Classical Arts in Manhattan:
450 W 37th St, New York, NY 10018

Admission/participation is free and heartily encouraged! Performers are encouraged to perform anywhere from one-four pieces of their choice (with selection help from their teacher), that they feel confident in playing.
